Orkney Springs, Virginia is the site of the week long summer band camp for the Oakton High School Cougar Marching Band and Guard.

The entire camp program is under the direction and supervision of Dr. Cheryl Newton and Mrs. Michelle Taylor, Directors of the Band at Oakton High School.  There will be adult chaperones and a nurse available around the clock.  Music and marching instruction will be provided by a competent staff of clinicians and musicians.   The camp provides a night watchman for security every night.

The week is divided into music instruction, practice sessions, field marching and concert rehearsals.  There will also be a small amount of free time during which the students may swim, play tennis, etc.

Families and friends are urged to visit Orkney Springs on Parents Day on Saturday, August 21st from 3pm to about 9pm. 

Orkney is a delightful experience for everyone.  Band students who have been there, can't wait to go back and parents fall in love with the history and the beautiful setting.  The meals are great!  During this incredible week students will be on the marching field each day at 6:30am and end the day in concert practice at 9:30pm.  It is a tough schedule, but the kids tell us every year it is one of the best parts of the music program.
