Symphonic Band class is designed to optimize the potential, talent and musicality of the advanced instrumental musician through the rehearsal and performance of quality wind band literature.  Musical, historical and theoretical concepts are discussed and applied to every piece of music to a degree appropriate for the development of advanced musicianship.  Marching band techniques are a requirement for this course.

Symphonic Band members will:

A.) Attain a minimum of level 4 in each of the VMEA Instrumental Standards of Performance

B.) Attain performance level 3-4 of the FCPS Musical Skills List

C.) Participate in all marching band activities and demonstrate mastery of marching band techniques and skills

D.) Participate in all concert band performances
